This Privacy Policy describes how Sesh Rao ("we", "us", or "our"),
the developer of the CHAK IN app ("App"),
collects, uses, and protects information when you use the App.
CHAK IN is a multi-school parent application — you enter a school
code provided by your school to connect to that school's information.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use the CHAK IN app:
- Account credentials — mobile number used for SMS OTP authentication; a unique device identifier (UUID) generated on first install for device binding
- School code — the code you enter to connect to your school
- Student information — name, class, date of birth, gender, blood group, address (read from your school's records)
- Contact information — parent/guardian mobile number
- Financial information — fee payment history and receipt details
- Attendance records — daily attendance status
- Academic records — exam marks and homework details
- Device information — device type and operating system version (for app compatibility)
- Messages — the content of messages you exchange with your child's class teacher through the App, and any reports you submit about a message
- Push notification token — a device identifier issued by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, used only to deliver notifications to your device
2. How We Use Your Information
The information collected is used solely to:
- Authenticate your identity and provide secure access to the CHAK IN app
- Connect you to your school using the school code you provide
- Display your child's academic, attendance, and fee information
- Process fee payments through the integrated payment gateway (Razorpay)
- Let you exchange messages with your child's class teacher, and let the school review messages that are reported
- Send notifications regarding fees, homework, and school announcements
- Improve the performance and reliability of the App
3. Messaging and Reported Content
The App lets you exchange messages with your child's class teacher. Messages are stored on your school's database and are visible to you, to the teacher(s) assigned to your child's class, and to authorised school staff.
- You can report any message you receive. Reported messages are reviewed by school administrators, who may remove them.
- Authorised school staff may view conversations for safety, moderation and record-keeping. This access is limited to staff whose role has been granted it, and the messages are never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
- You can block a conversation at any time to stop sending and receiving messages in it. You can unblock it again from the same screen.
- Removed messages are hidden from both sides of the conversation.
- Messages are not used for advertising, and are never sold or shared with third parties.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- School administration — student and payment data is shared with your respective school to maintain records
- Payment processor — when you make a fee payment, transaction details are shared with Razorpay to process the payment securely
- Legal requirements — if required by law or a valid government order
5. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
- Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted storage on your device (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences)
- Access tokens expire automatically and are rotated on each session
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your school's account is active on the platform.
When the school's subscription ends, data is retained for 90 days before being permanently deleted,
unless a longer retention period is required by law.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is used to view information about students, including minors. Student data is provided by
and managed by your school's administration. Parents and guardians access their
child's information through verified parent accounts linked by the school. We do not knowingly
allow minors to create independent accounts without school-verified parental consent.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data (contact your school administration)
- Deletion — request deletion of your mobile account via our account deletion page or by contacting us at the email below
- Opt-out — uninstall the App at any time; this does not affect your school records
9. Third-Party Services
The CHAK IN app integrates with the following third-party services:
- Razorpay — payment processing
- smslogin.mobi — SMS OTP delivery (your mobile number is transmitted to this service solely to send the one-time password)
These services have their own privacy policies and data practices that are independent of ours.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes
by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after
changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
